SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - Sacramento State junior
guard Benthe Versteeg was named to the Big Sky Conference
All-Tournament Team for the second time in her career on March 12 following the
conclusion of the league's championship event.
Already among a group of six Hornets to ever earn all-tournament honors,
Versteeg becomes the first Sacramento State player to be named to the
all-tournament team twice in a career after picking up her first honor
following the 2023-24 championship. Just as she was last year, she is the only
member of the six-woman honor roll not on a team that reached the semifinals.
During the Hornets' two-game run in the postseason event, Versteeg nearly
averaged a triple-double, putting up 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.0 assists
per game while playing almost 37 minutes per contest.
In the Hornets' opening-round victory over Eastern Washington, Versteeg
finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists for her fifth
consecutive double-double as Sacramento State upended the Eagles, 71-67.
Twenty four hours later, Versteeg exploded for a game-high 24 points — just two
shy of her career high — to go with nine rebounds and five assists,
hitting 10-of-24 from the field and playing all 40 minutes in a four-point
defeat against second-seeded Northern Arizona. The 24 points are tied for
seventh in school history for a single Big Sky Tournament game, while the 10
makes from the field are also tied for third.
An All-Big Sky first team selection for the first time in her career and one of
three players to be named to the Big Sky All-Defensive Team for the second
straight season, Versteeg finished the 2024-25 campaign averaging 12.0 points per
game, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 6.5 assists per game, shooting .411 from the
floor.
Her 208 assists this season tied her own single-season school record set last
year and she became the first Hornet to post back-to-back 200-assist seasons.
